Speed painting and having fun putting robots off in the mist. Look out moo-moos!

Creature sketch from an in-class exercise for the Conceptual Illustration and Visual Development class I teach at DigiPen… the goal was to pick an artist’s design of something (character, creature, vehicle, building… whatever) and try to apply elements from their work (colors, rending approach, linework, shape language, stylization, etc.) in a speed design of something related but original.

360 turnaround

Occasionally I get to join in the fun with my students. The in-class assignment was to draw the model from 8 locations around the room. The second part of the assignment is to put the images together into a GIF animation.

360 figure drawing

One of the in-class assignments from the Advanced Figure Drawing class I teach at DigiPen is to do eight 2 minute drawing from around the model, and creating an aditional 8 in between (tween) drawings as part of the homework and create an animated .gif. I ended up doing it too, minus the tween drawings.
